What sells early and what sells late in Vancouver

Early trades (excavation and site work, site security, concrete, structural steel, elevator) need projects permitted recently, before the structure goes up. Late trades (cabinetry, flooring, countertop, finish carpentry, appliance and equipment) are bought from projects permitted a year or more ago that are only now reaching the finishes, so their counts lean on the older permits.

The broadest trade count in Vancouver covers 431 new buildings and 337 renovations or alterations. Most open work is new construction, so builders and developers are the buyers to reach.

What the Vancouver data covers

The data is the City of Vancouver. Burnaby, Richmond, Surrey and the rest of Metro Vancouver issue their own permits and are not in the feed today.

Customers who work from Burnaby, Richmond, Surrey, Coquitlam and North Vancouver are shown this feed as their nearest covered market; those cities' own permits are not counted here.
